Rooms
Darling Street Residence offers a recently renovated one-bedroom apartment. It includes air conditioning, free WiFi, and a fully equipped kitchen. The living room has a sofa, and the bedroom features parquet floors. The private bathroom is compact. Note that the hot water cylinder is small, so you may run out of hot water if you take multiple showers in a row, but it reheats quickly. Guests staying for longer periods can use the communal laundry (available for $3 per wash and dry), as the unit does not have its own washing machine.
Kitchen
The apartment has a kitchen with a stove, pots, and pans stored in a cupboard above the stove. There is a dining area for meals. The fridge is available for storing groceries. For eating out, you are a few minutes' walk from local bars, cafes, and restaurants. A couple of extra pots or pans might be helpful if you plan to cook complex meals.
Leisure
The apartment features a smart TV, but it does not have regular TV channels. To watch something, you need to select and possibly purchase streaming content. For outdoor activities, boating opportunities are available in the surrounding area. The nearby Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne (19 minutes on foot) is a good spot for a walk.
Location
The residence is located in Melbourne, 16 km from Essendon Fields Airport. It is a 2-minute walk to the local train station, with two stops to Flinders Street Station. You can reach Melbourne Cricket Ground (2 km) and Federation Square (4 km) by train or on foot. Shrine of Remembrance is 2 km away. Street parking is available, but note that some spots have a 4-hour maximum, others 1 hour.
Amenities
The apartment offers key access and private check-in and check-out for a smooth arrival. Express check-in and check-out are also available. The building has heating and is non-smoking throughout. Family rooms are available, and the apartment is suitable for children. The host provides good communication and allows early check-in upon request. The laundry room is down the road for $5 per cold wash if needed. There is no on-site concierge, room service, or business center.
“This residence hits a sweet spot for those prioritizing a convenient Melbourne base; its proximity to public transport and key attractions like the Botanic Gardens is truly a strong point. The apartments themselves are noted for being well-appointed, offering a comfortable setup for longer stays, with the added benefit of in-building laundry facilities. Communication with the host appears to be a positive aspect, allowing for a smooth and accommodating arrival.”
