Ground-Floor Cabins
Each ground-floor unit has a private bathroom with shower, a dining area, and a kitchenette with microwave, kettle, and fridge. Rooms include air conditioning, heating, a spa bath, and a tea/coffee maker. The Queen Room with Garden View provides direct views of the animal enclosures. The Double Room and Double Room - Disability Access offer additional space and a sofa bed.
Self-Catering Setup
All rooms have a kitchenette and dining area for preparing your own meals. Tea and coffee making facilities are provided. Nearby eating options are limited, so guests often bring provisions. The host provides a bag of carrots for feeding the animals.
Wildlife at Your Doorstep
Guests have exclusive access to the animal reserve. Kangaroos roam freely and approach the cabins. The host arranges hands-on encounters with koalas, wombats, emus, and deer. You can feed the animals and learn about their care. The property also has a garden and a spa bath for relaxation.
Great Ocean Road Base
The property is in Lavers Hill, a 5-10 minute drive from Melba Gully glow-worm walk. Port Campbell National Park is 50 km away, the Twelve Apostles 40 km. Avalon Airport is 200 km. Free private parking is available on site. The area is part of the Otway region with waterfalls and scenic trails.
Friendly Host and Parking
The host provides personal welcome and animal interaction sessions. Free private parking is available. The rooms are non-smoking and have smoke alarms and fire extinguishers. No room service or business facilities, but the host is responsive to requests. The experience focuses on wildlife and self-sufficient stays.
“My time here was genuinely special, feeling as though the grounds themselves were alive with curious kangaroos and emus visiting right up to the doorstep. Beyond the extraordinary proximity to wildlife, the cottages surprised with their unexpected level of comfort and well-appointed kitchens. It's a thoughtful retreat where nature and thoughtful amenities converge.”
